Goals for 2010!!

I’m sure that 2009 was the best year of my life, I’ve grown so much, learned many interesting shit and enjoyed life as never before. I’ve achieved almost total independence and I’m pretty happy with the results.

I’ll present you my list of goals for the year of 2010.

Pay more attention to egganomaly, i feel like i’m not giving 100%, i’ll try to write often.
Leave my parents house and buy or rent one for me.
Give my first professional presentation about Web.
Finish one of my main projects on hold, probably one connected with my home town.
Adopt a more minimalist lifestyle, i feel that I’ve too much things that I don’t need.
Design a new logo and template for egganomaly.
Travel every three months.
Bungee jumping and skydiving.
Read at least one book per month.
Go back to gym.

Saying farewell to a hobby

There are hundreds of books and resources available on the topic of breaking up with a love interest. There are even ones exploring the topic of breaking off a toxic friendship and dumping bad business relationships. But, I have yet to find anything out in the ether on how to kick a hobby to the curb. Noting that, I proclaim this Unclutterer entry as the authoritative work on breaking up with a hobby (I’m a little goofy this morning, just go with it). I call it:

You’re Just Not That Into Your Hobby

Do you consider yourself a tennis player, but the last time you touched your racket was when Bill Clinton was president? Do you like the idea of being a scrapbooker but have never made a complete scrapbook? Are you keeping canvases for masterpieces you may one day paint, yet all of your paints are dried and your brushes deteriorating? Is your guitar missing strings and in a case at the back of a closet? Do you have areas of your home set aside or filled with stuff related to a hobby that you spend less than 10 hours on a year?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, you are just not that into your hobby.

It can be difficult to admit, but if you’re not averaging at least an hour a month pursuing a hobby, it’s time to let it go. The space you’re sacrificing in your home is too valuable to store things you don’t use. If you don’t have storage issues, it’s still worthwhile to get rid of your unused hobby stuff. Every time you walk past it I bet you think, “I wish I had more time to do X.” You don’t need that stress and guilt. If it were really important to you, you would pursue it.

Five steps for deciding if now is the time to ditch your hobby:

Identify all of your hobbies and all of the things associated with them in your home, garage, and office. You may benefit by collecting these items and laying them all out in your front yard or an open space in your home to see how much space you’re sacrificing.
List all of these hobbies and then estimate how much time you’ve spent pursuing each of them in the last 12 months. Be honest with yourself.
Any hobby with an estimation of 10 hours or less should immediately be moved out of your home. Pack up the equipment and head to a used sports equipment store or an appropriate charity. If the hobby stuff is valuable, photograph it and list it for sale on a site like ebay or craigslist.
Any hobby with an estimation of 24 hours or less should be carefully reviewed. If you went camping one day last year, you would reach the 24-hour mark for camping as a hobby. However, is one day of camping worth all of the space used to store your tent, sleeping bag, and all other accoutrements? On the flip side, if you spent one Friday night a month last year playing Bridge with friends and averaged about two hours of playing time a sitting, it’s probably worthwhile to hold onto a deck of cards.
Any hobby with an estimation of more than 24 hours also should be considered for review. You may realize that you’re spending so much time and space on your hobby that you’re neglecting things more important in your life, like time with your spouse or children. It’s okay to break up with these hobbies, too. In most cases, however, you probably have a healthy relationship with your active hobbies and you’ll decide to keep up with them. You still will want to evaluate how much stuff you have for them. If you have more supplies than you could use in a lifetime associated with that hobby, it’s time to weed through the collection of stuff. My rule of thumb is that you should never have more than one year’s worth of supplies for an intense hobby — and less than that if you can manage.

There is a caveat to my assumption that you’re just not that into your hobby that I feel I should mention as a footnote. The truth may be that you really like your hobby, but somewhere along the way you misappropriated your time and let it fall by the wayside. Instead of making chairs in your woodworking studio, you’ve been watching television. If this is the case, make new priorities and recommit to your hobby. Turn off the t.v. and head to your studio. Decide to re-evaluate that hobby in six months. If in six months, however, you’re still watching t.v., then it’s time to admit that watching t.v. is your hobby not woodworking.

The Urban Cursor

Sebastian Campion, a Danish designer created the project Urban Cursor, the object was placed on a square in Figueres, Catalunya during the cultural festival Ingràvid. The cursor is a GPS enabled object designed to facilitate social interaction and play in public space. This is a 3-dimentional computer cursor that people can sit and play and move around the world.

The GPS transmitted its geographic coordinates to a website, at the website, the coordinates were mapped in Google Maps.

Novos Imac e Magic Mouse

Hoje foram lançados os novos Imac’s, passando assim a ter um de 21.5″ e 27″. Foi uma boa jogada da Apple ter introduzido estes novos Imac’s de 27″ mas acho que foi má jogada ter retirado o de 24″, fazia muito mais sentido manter os de 20″ e 24″ e introduzir este de 27″. Confesso que ainda esperei um Imac de 30″ mas 27″ já não é nada mau.

Foram feitas algumas alterações de hardware, foi adicionado um leitor de cartões SD, penso que deviam ter adicionado um leitor multi-cartões. Fiquei bastante contente por finalmente terem adicionado um processador Quad-Core na versão mais cara do 27″. O novo monitor parece-me ser razoável, ainda bem que optaram por uma resolução de 2560*1440.

Mais uma surpresa foi o novo rato, magic mouse, confesso que não estava à espera deste novo rato, agrada-me bastante as novas funcionalidades, mas o design deixa muito a desejar e parece que não aprenderam grande coisa com o seu irmão mais velho mighty mouse.

Decidiram substituir o rato e teclado wired por wireless, agora quando comprarem um Imac já vem com este novo magic mouse e o teclado da Apple sem fio.

Sei que ultimamente não tenho vindo postar aqui nada, e desde já quero agradecer ao pessoal que praticamente todos os dias passa por cá para ver se tem algo novo. Vou tentar resumir tudo o que tenho feito ultimamente.

Isto não tem andado nada fácil para vir aqui o verão foi um estrondo, só viajar e conhecer pessoal novo.

Tinyfish Sesimbra Beach Festival

Tudo começou com o Tinyfish Sesimbra beach festival, onde fui fotografo oficial, nunca tinha visto tanta gente num evento tinyfish, parabens à organização.

Foram duas noites de loucura que nunca mais vou esquecer =)

Já esta decidido os temas para o proximo 4am, vão ser, Sombras e Sinais de Rua.

Foi decidido que este evento teria dois temas em vez de um, podem escolher qualquer um dos temas, ou os dois.

Sesimbra vai mais uma vez marcar presença no evento e o ponto de encontro é, como sempre, as 3.30 em frente ao Gliese. Se quiserem fazer parte do nosso grupo deixem uma mensagem ou apareçam no ponto de encontro.

FindKelp em Sesimbra

Sesimbra recebe o open fotográfico FindKelp no dia 6 de Junho, sábado, às 8.30 horas, que será disputado por fotógrafos de renome.

Os oceanos estão povoados por inúmeras florestas subaquáticas, compostas maioritariamente por laminárias, espécie de algas que podem atingir até 65 metros. Estas florestas, que têm vindo a desaparecer, reúnem grandes quantidades de organismos marinhos, como peixes ou invertebrados.

O projecto Findkelp surge para conhecer melhor estas florestas e ajudar a identificá-las. Em Sesimbra, vários mergulhadores vão reunir-se e contribuir para aumentar esta base de dados fotografando as laminárias existentes ao longo da costa.

A iniciativa é organizada pelo Centro de Ciências de Mar do Algarve, Ecokelp e Gobius – Comunicação e Ciência e conta com o apoio da Câmara Municipal de Sesimbra, Bestdrive e Homem do Mar.

Taça de Portugal de Downhill Urbano em Sesimbra

A Taça Nacional de Downhill Urbano volta às ruas da vila de Sesimbra no dia 7 de Junho, às 14 horas. A prova, aberta a atletas federados, é composta por duas mangas, com partida no cimo da Rua Conselheiro Ramada Curto e chegada à Avenida dos Náufragos, junto à praia.

Ao longo do percurso, os participantes vão encontrar descidas rápidas, rampas e algumas curvas, que proporcionarão manobras e saltos espectaculares.

O regulamento pode ser consultado no site www.uvp-fpc.pt, na área de regulamentos, e as pré-inscrições podem ser efectuadas no site www.dhu.com.pt, até às 18 horas de quinta-feira antes da prova.
Os não federados também podem participar, na categoria de promoção. Para o efeito devem efectuar a pré-inscrição no site acima referido.

A iniciativa é organizada pela Downstream – Desporto de Aventura, Federação Portuguesa de Ciclismo, Tiny Fish e Câmara Municipal de Sesimbra
